Deleah Sharp serves as the Founder and Executive Director of Identify Your Dream (IDYD) Corporation, a role in which she has curated initiatives such as the Annual “Stomp Out Violence March & Rally,” “Conversations with Survivors,” “Sweet Dreams Toy Giveaway,” and IDYD’s Dreamers Mentoring Program. As a devoted mother of three, a dance instructor, and author of the children's book "Sweet Dreams – Finding Life after Loss," Deleah brings a wealth of experience and passion to her work. Having graduated from Michigan State University, Deleah initially embarked on a successful career as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist spanning over two decades. However, her passion for the impact of trauma on the mind prompted her to pursue a Master’s in Psychology, driven by personal loss after her brother, Dean Samuel, fell victim to gun violence in their hometown of Pontiac, MI.
Deleah's commitment to addressing the adverse effects of trauma is evident in her multifaceted approach, prioritizing community healing, breaking the cycle of crime, and guiding youth (aged 4-18) on a transformative journey towards LIFE after loss. She embraces the mantra of "silencing the traumatic
events that no longer serve us" and has emerged as a community activist against violence. Her advocacy extends to partnering with organizations dedicated to gun law reform, conducting trauma-informed
workshops in schools, and serving as the Chapter Coordinator for Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice since January 2019.
Deleah's impactful contributions have garnered recognition, including the 2017 Omega Psi Phi Fraternity - Omicron Alpha Alpha Chapter Citizen of the Year Award, The Ascend Foundation’s 2018 Pontiac Community Service Award, the 2018 Mothering Justice Organization of the Year award, and selection as part of the Oakland County Executive Elite 40 under 40 Class of 2019.
In 2022, Deleah was celebrated as one of Michigan’s Heroes by Governor Whitmer, a testament to her unwavering dedication. Recognizing Pontiac's history of pain, she actively participates in various anti-violence initiatives, serving on the Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald’s Anti-Violence Task Force,
Oakland County’s Anti-Violence Task Force, Pontiac’s Anti- Violence Task Force, and the Oakland County Sheriff Relation
Team. Deleah Sharp embodies the transformation of personal healing into impactful community action, making a lasting difference in the lives of those she serves.
